UIL Solo & Ensemble
Director: Gabrielle Bielz
The UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest is typically for freshman and sophomores seeking to obtain their letterman jacket. Students pick a solo and/or and ensemble from the UIL Prescribed Music List and perform at the contest, which takes place in early to mid February. Students interested will receive information from Mrs. Bielz after the conclusion of marching season
Young Artists Contest
Director: Samuel Belcher
The Young Artists Contest (YAC) is required for all students not participating in the UIL Contest. There are two contests, one for solos in early May and one for ensembles in early February. Both contests are set up as a prelims/finals format and have professional judges hired to adjudicate and provide feedback for all participants. Information is typically provided by Mr. Belcher in January.
