
- About the Cypress Woods Band -
The Cypress Woods Band Program provides incredible musical experiences through the mediums of marching band, concert band, percussion, chamber music, dance, color guard, and collaborations with choir, orchestra, and theatre.

The Cypress Woods Band was founded in 2006, and is a 6A program consisting of 300+ members between winds, percussion, and color guard. The Wildcat Marching Band is a varsity group that performs at various contests throughout the fall including UIL and Bands of America competitions, as well as weekly varsity football games. There are currently four concert ensembles in the band program, percussion ensemble, the NOVA Color Guard, and two winter guard ensembles in the spring.
The band is a consistent University Interscholastic League Sweepstakes winner both in the marching arts and concert and sight-reading evaluations. Recently, the Wind Ensemble performed at the 78th Midwest Clinic, International Band and Orchestra Conference in Chicago, IL. The Wind Ensemble was also named a TMEA Honor Band Finalist in 2022. The Cypress Woods Marching Band and NOVA was named a finalist at the 2020 UIL State Marching Band Contest, the silver-medalist at the 2021 BOA North Houston Regional, and participated in the 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 UIL State Marching Band Contests. The percussion ensemble has also been awarded best in class at numerous competitions over the past years. The program has had great success in the Texas Music Educators Association All-Region process, on average placing nearly 70 students to Region Band, 10+ to Area, and multiple students earning spots in the TMEA All-State Band each school year.
